Mitsubishi Electric's MSZ-FH and MXZ multi-zone systems are the best mini-splits I install, period. The Hyper-Heat variant is engineered for cold climates and is overkill for the South Bay — but the regular FH-series is the gold standard for ADUs, garage conversions, and any home that doesn't have central ducts. The compressor warranty is industry-leading.

What I see fail on Mitsubishi Electric systems
- E1 / E5 / P1 error codes. communication wire faults; almost always an install problem, not equipment
- Drain pump failure. ceiling-cassette models have a small drain pump that fails around year 7-10
- Outdoor fan motor. MSZ-FH outdoor fan motors are well-built but can wear bearings around year 12
